READING, Berkshire – St Giles.

Reredos 1922

The Reading Observer of 23 February 1923 reported that

The late Archdeacon, [Ducat] who ministered at St. Giles’ for a number of years, was never satisfied with the reredos in the Lady Chapel and Mrs. Ducat carried out his dearest wish and kindly gave the panelling at the east end of the Lady Chapel, in addition to restoring and improving the reredos… Mr. George H. Fellowes Prynne, F.R.I.B.A., the Oxford diocesan architect…was consulted, and prepared designs for the reredos and oak panelling on either side, on the east wall, and these designs have been well carried out by Mr. A, Robinson, of Westminster.
